Alexy is a Canadian singer/songwriter based in Ottawa, Ontario. Alexy released his debut EP ''Fragments of Fiction on August 23rd 2010. Alexy's first solo effort presented the listener with introspective lyricism, groovy hooks, and soulful melodies to create a unique blend of alternative indie rock. Alexy has also acquired the support producer Ben Pelchat, with whom he is now completing the recording of his full-length album ''Paper Moon''.
What sets Alexy apart, is his independence as an artist. Alexy wrote and produced everything on his debut EP, ranging from drums, bass and piano to cello, guitar and vocals. At only 20 years of age, Alexy has stepped away from his University Music Studies to pursue his music career full-time, as well as producing other upcoming local artists, promoting his music videos, coordinating his live band. Alexy has now released his 3-song album sample ''Last Man EP'', leading up to the album to be released early next year. The first single off this EP, ''Dirtier Dancing'' has also placed in the top 5 in this years' ''Song of the Year'' contest in the ''Dance'' category.
With a dedicated 3-piece band backing him on stage (known as ''The Other Side''), a growing set of theatrical aspects and colourful melodies and harmonies in their live shows, they are targeting a wide audience of rock-pop fans, hungry for something new and innovative.
In their short time together, Alexy & The Other Side have successfully made it through to the 3rd round of the Live 88.5 ''Big Money Shot'' contest, as well competing in many showcase competitions in Ottawa. They have also begun touring the surrounding regions, including their first official tour, with stops in Toronto, Oshawa, Peterborough, Montreal and Kingston, and are actively gigging in and around their hometown. They are now preparing to relocate to Montreal to focus their efforts on new music projects and touring.
Most recently, Alexy's first single, Dirtier Dancing, was featured on two episodes of Nickelodeon's Nick @ Nite brand new series, Hollywood Heights, on episodes airing June 29th and July 9th.
Thanks for taking the time to check out this page! As you may know, James and myself will be shaving our heads to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society in association with Tonight’s the Night and a bunch of other wonderful bands perofrming on May 25th at the Mod Club.

Hey guys,
I’m writing today to shed some light on the album I’ve been working on for the last 12 months…
Last summer I left my home in Ottawa, and vagabonded for 4 months in Toronto, working endless hours writing and recording what would become my most ambitious (and costly) project to date… by far.
I was extremely fortunate to have friends who offered their homes and couches to me, an essentially homeless, broke musician, on an crazy quest to make the best music he had ever made…
Well I can say that A LOT got done during those 4 months…over 14 songs were written for the album, 3 of which were fully completed, and released as the ”Last Man EP”.
The thing is, recording music is extremely expensive…and I’ve run out of money to pay my producer and the studio…let alone Mixing & Mastering! (And lets not forget printing, distribution, promotion, touring, etc…) And that’s where you come in.
I just recently launched a Rocket-Hub campaign… ”What the hell is that?!” you might be asking yourself…
Well, it’s a way for you to get involved in the process, to bring your voice to the table, to be part of this project!
To make it easier to understand, I put together a video to show you exactly what I’ve been up too, and how you can help!
I honestly can’t express how thankful I am of your support, and I can’t wait to show you these new songs…the culmination of everything I have ever done, in a tangible CD (or maybe Vinyl?!).
We just realized that the tour date widget is broken and not showing the current tour dates!!! So until we get that figured out, here’s what’s happening!
Tonight I’m writing from the comfort of my cousin’s apartment on Rosemont Boulevard, in Montreal. From here, I can finally reflect on the insanity of the last 2 days…though my head is still a big fuzzy from the car accident….
Did I mention the car accident? ( it’s all good, nobody got hurt )
I arrived Tuesday night, so that we could begin preparations for the video for ”Dirtier Dancing”, and on Wednesday morning we departed, ready for a full day of shopping for supplies and props. Unfortunately for us, we underestimated the difficulty of finding some of the key items we would need to pull off this video…
Example: Did you know water guns are virtually impossible to find during the winter? I can already hear you say ”Well that kind of makes sense…” but if that’s not bad enough, it’s also impossible to find fans! People use fans even if it’s not summer right?! (this will all make sense once the video is out… I hope.)
We’ll be filming a making-of on set, and taking tons of pictures of the band and crew (there’s going to be around 20 of us!). We’ve still got 2 days of preparations until the shoot, and a million more things to finish, so I’m going to get back to work, sleep, and wake up for another day of running around like mad…
It is an idea, an experience, and a perspective. It is the afterthought, the second glance, and the idea that nothing is ever necessarily what it seems. We see this around us everyday: from the newspaper headline of the newest political scandal; to the newest gadget we need like the air we breathe.
Whether it is at one of our shows, or in your room listening to our words as you fall asleep, our goal is to help you open your eyes and question the world around you. Let us take you, to the other side.
Sometimes time slips by without us noticing, and sometimes it feels like everything is moving so slowly, that time has stopped altogether…
When I look back at the last 8 months, I wonder where all that time has gone…and then it hits me. Time hasn’t sped up or slowed down, it is my own perspective on the experiences I have lived and accumulated that make it seem like the last 8 months, some of the best months of my life, have just flown right past me…
This Friday, I will be putting out my second release, the ”Last Man” EP. It is the beginning of a new chapter for me, and I’m so excited to share it with you…
It feels like an eternity since the last blog post, and now that I’m here writing these words down, I’m not sure what to say…with yet so much to be said….
As I’m sure you noticed, the website has changed…a lot! If you’ve experience the live show that is “Alexy & The Other Side” you might understand the face paint and capes, or you might not. We have only begun the journey of exploring “the Other Side”, and I assure you that it will all make sense soon…
Oh, and did I mention the Last Man Ep?!
I had the wonderful opportunity to sit in on the Mastering session with renown mastering engineer Adrian Carr for the first 3 songs of the album, to be released under the “Last Man” Ep. It has taken me 7 months to get there, but the outcome has far exceeded even my own expectations. The music will be up on the site very very soon, and I will be giving away the title track of the EP to all those who sign up/are signed up to the mailing list. It will of course be available through your usual online retailers (iTunes, amazon, spotify) , but also at all shows through a unique biodegradable seed card. (stick it in some dirt and flowers will grow! Seriously!)
We are also planning on shooting a whopping THREE! full production music videos in the next 5 months! These videos will help to bridge the gap between “The Other Side”, and most importantly, foreshadow the album. We will be shooting the first song in the next month and a half or so, so keep an eye out, cause its gonna be big! (Here’s a hint: Keep Calm, Carry On…)
I feel like I could go on forever recounting all that has happened in the last few months, but as it is 1:30 in the morning, and I am currently on a bus to Toronto, to then head of to Los Angeles, I feel like it might be time to catch some shut eye while I still can…
I’ve said it before, but I will say it again now…I haven’t blogged enough (its really quite shameful!) but I feel that this time, I will be lucrative in my blogging endeavors (does that even make sense?). I promise to fill you in on my trip to LA, and everything else that has happened/ is happening.
